Render order is a pretty fundamental concept you need to understand.

1. Model render order is controlled by the master view. Other views can have the models in different orders but when it comes to rendering the master view is all that matters.
2. Effects on layers of a model/group/submodel render from bottom of the screen to the top of the screen.
3. Effects on models/groups/submodels render from top of the screen to bottom of the screen.
